Letter Writing

I looked at my desk one evening, and remembered that I had planned to make a letter writing blog post. The below picture is literally what my desk looked like moments before I ran and grabbed a camera.

For some reason, every time I write letters, papers and pens and envelopes spread out over the whole desk or table I am working on. On this particular day, I was sorting envelopes, but still, my desk is usually full of papers.

Normally it would look more like this.
Letter writing is a big part of my life. I started writing letters to my cousin when I was six or so, and I have written to nearly twenty people over the years.

From the beginning I used pencil on loose-leaf paper. When I was about twelve or thirteen, my cousin said we should switch to pens.

Last year I felt a bit of peer pressure when it came to making letters pretty. I am currently writing with two girls who like to decorate their letters with pretty tapes, papers and pen designs. I am not crafty, and I cannot draw anything nice looking, so I bought some stationary paper for my self.

My mom bought me more larger stationary as well.

I got this eight set pack from Amazon. Check them out!
I was also inspired by watching Jane Austen movies to learn cursive. My hand writing has always been a bit messy, but learning cursive has helped me write more carefully.
And my mom bought me these cute little envelopes! She said it was mistake - they were supposed to be larger, but I like them that way, so long as they only have one sheet of paper in them!
If you have not written a letter in a while, or perhaps never have, I highly suggest that you pick up a piece of paper and pen, decide on a friend, and write to them! Everyone loves getting a letter in the mail!
